Holland's Reflection 5.30.2013

During the school year we typically focus on the 3 R's:  Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships. This summer, we should focus on Relaxing, Reflecting, and RefreshingEnjoy your summer and create beautiful memories with your family.  I know that teachers are never really "off", but the  3R's are vitally important to your longevity.

  Summer Updates

1. CRCT results from the 8th grade Math & Reading retest have returned. The data looks promising as more students demonstrated proficiency, but more analysis is needed to determine our overall performance across the board.

2. CCMS Summer Hours: Remember that teachers that need to complete special projects and/or work on organizing classroom material are free to come during summer office hours.
June: Tuesday - Thursday CCMS Open: 8:00 - 3:00 (per teachers' request)

3) The first day of summer school is Monday, June 3, 2013 (see CCMS website for details)

4) School Governance Council:  The SGC has had three meetings and is working diligently on making a contribution to the development of the strategic plan.  We are currently in Phase 1;  conducting an environmental scan, analyzing implications, and defining long-term outcomes.
Visit our school website for more information.  The next meeting is scheduled for June 25 at 7:00 PM.
Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment (C.I.A)

Outstanding! We had over 20 teachers to sign-up for Fulton Summer Summit and more committed to attending Rick Wormel's Differentiated Professional Learning in June.  If you would like to participate in these professional learning opportunities, it is not too late... Go to Employee Express and sign-up...Don't be left out ... someone on your team will likely be there. Professional Learning is part of  "Refreshing".  After watching the short clip below of Rick Wormel discussing the importance of formative assessments, I immediately signed-up for his presentation.  Our students might say he is "tight"... I highly encourage you to sign-up and come join me. Great teachers never stop learning.
